Inspired by California Poppy - No. 11

California Poppy - the color of warmth, creativity, and freedom of expression.

Last May, I was dreaming up colors for the Signature Envelope. Our newest addition to the family, Massimo, was 3 months old and we had just moved from the apartment above our restaurant to a little house in Carmel down the street. It was a hectic time, that feels like a blur now. On one of my first walks in the neighborhood, I was greeted by a huge patch of California Poppies, literally popping up around the base of the street sign. This isn’t rare for any California town in the Spring… but it felt special to me in the moment. In the midst of a move and being sleep deprived with a newborn, those poppies felt like a burst of energy and creativity - reminding me that this too will pass and there will be time for creativity in my work again. Here I am, almost 1 year later celebrating this color and the inspiration that sparked it’s creation.
